New details emerge on Henderson teen's suicide

As family, friends and classmates mourn the death of a Henderson, Neves High School student, new details have emerged on her disappearance and suicide.

The 17-year-old girl, Jenaleah “Jenna” Hines, apparently stole the gun of her stepfather, who was identified by a North Las Vegas police officer, before running away from home on December 30.

He had conflict with his mother Jennifer Swanson and stepfather Corey Swanson. The girl's biological father, Hina Hin, recently revealed that it was over a boyfriend. Las Vegas Review-Journal,

“They had a huge argument,” Hina Hin told Las Vegas TV station KLAS. “This was no ordinary argument.”

In a police report by Hina Hin, a resident of San Jose, California review-journalCorey Swanson said he believed the teen took his Glock 43 handgun.

Hina Hin had not seen the girl in person for almost a year, following a dispute with her mother over visits after they separated. review-journal Informed.

But after her daughter ran away, Jennifer Swanson texted her. Initially, he thought the girl would return home after going out at night.

But he became more concerned when Jennifer Swanson told him that the 17-year-old boy had left an apparent suicide note. review-journal Informed.

The search began, with the searchers reporting nothing about the girl's emotional state. Instead, they were concerned about his ability to survive in the desert without food or water for several days.

Hina Hin was among several people who took part in the extensive search.

I was out there looking for her and screaming her name,'' he told Las Vegas TV station KSNV.

Swanson also searched for the girl and immediately reported her missing to authorities. They met with reporters last week in an effort to locate the girl.

But despite family members, community volunteers, police officers and people with Nevada's Red Rock Search and Rescue continuing their efforts over the weekend, her lifeless body was found by a hiker on Sunday. The Clark County coroner's office revealed earlier this week after an autopsy that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the neck and head.

Hina Hin has visited the site where she was found.

I felt His presence in that place…and it's still heartbreaking. It feels like a nightmare that I want to wake up from, I can't believe it's real,'' he told KSNV.

There has been a steady stream of people remembering Kishore since Sunday.

“Jenna was a loving soul who just wanted to be loved,” Hina Hin said in a tribute on the GoFundMe page.

He had the potential to live a beautiful, long and happy life. She loved animals, especially her dogs. Jenna was truly a wonderful person, both in heart and soul. He will be greatly missed and his memories will always live in our hearts.”

Those who wish to assist the family with funeral costs can donate through the online fundraising site GoFundMe. As of Thursday, the total raised was $5,887. The target is $13,000.

In honor of the life of Jenaleh Hines, a candlelight vigil is being held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Spanish Needle Street and Desert Sunflower Circle in Henderson.

People attending can bring candles, as well as white, blue, or gold balloons. They are the colors of Henderson Foothill High School. Hin was a student there, where she had an A-average.
